Immediately after making my 40th stranger portrait, I saw this subject and she was all in for joining my 100 Strangers project. Meet Janice, 41/100.
“I came for the funk,” she said. We were at Albuquerque’s Old Town Plaza. She was dipping her shoulders to the lively groove of the band playing in the gazebo.
When I asked her to give me, “serious,” she turned to the side, puckered up and gave me “sassy.” You can see where my focus went. An alternate photo of Janice is here. Janice doesn’t do serious.
After I took her pictures, I found out she was Sheena’s (Stranger No.40) mother!
