I want to wring out the last of my highlights from the amazing Saguaro National Park and so I saved one of my favorites for last.
Here, you have a chance to see something from an unusual angle. Usually, the flowers that grow on the tips of the saguaro cactus open when the plant has grown as tall as 15-20 feet high. In this particular instance, the arm on this plant had grown downwards and near the ground, It allowed the flower bud to appear beneath eye level of an average adult. I didn’t need a ladder to get the view.
So delicate and voluptuous.

Thanks so much, John. With only a few chances to visit the national park, I was pretty psyched to get this close to something so special.
